EX-MODELS have the reputation as the no wave champions of the new New York underground, as acknowledged by most any magazine or newspaper that’s ever witnessed their deafeningly shrill, spastic, don’t-blink-or–you-might miss-three-songs live performances. The band takes punk and new wave, mangle is trough thier spazz-core blender and and form it into an almost insulting, angular Beefheart-style noise eruption in a way that you've never heard before.
Like Devo, Gang of four, The Faint and Das Oath being chased by a mountain lion, Ex Models breathlessly stutter out thier post punk epithets that snap and sting like yanked rubberbands. Shahin Motia undulates wildly, swift-kicking his larynx into the stratosphere while Shah Motia knits furious guitar lines on the ground below... an adrenaline shot: desperate measures for desperate times.

While critics elaborate on frantic, deconstructed song structures, perverse manipulation of stringed instruments, and wanton abuse of the human voice, Ex Models have become known in musical circles as "every band’s favorite band"; the demand by their peers to see what Alternative Press Magazine calls, "a unique combination of balls and irreverence" has landed them slots from San Diego to Japan to Glasgow with everyone from Pretty Girls Make Graves to Tortoise and to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Thier second album, 'Zoo Psychology' is their latest offering; fifteen tracks replete with ecstatic wailing and ruling recorded by the legendary New York no wave guru Martin Bisi (Sonic Youth, Lydia Lunch, John Zorn, Boss Hog, US Maple, etc) and mastered by Fred Kevorkian (White Stripes). It is a document of the band’s transformation from the mechanical, critically acclaimed post punk minimalism of 2001’s 'Other Mathematics' , past the paroxysmal grind of 2002’s untitled "Pink" split EP, and into the coil of nervous sexual energy that it is today.
ABOUT PARIS is a young group hailing from amsterdam that has members of speedcore heroes Betercore. About Paris endorses a poppier sound; influences of/to new wave or electro are important here. The setup is just drums, guitar, a Korg synthesizer, and vocals. Think Hot Hot Heat, Joy division, Les Savy Fav to name a few.
