Patchwork Studio 2007

Nowadays most of the synthesizers from the early Patchwork days, are gone.

They are replaced by other vintage synthesizers, or modern equivalents, like the Synthesizers.com

(aka Arrick) modular system, Elka Rhapsody 610, ARP White Face Odyssey, Alesis Ion,

Kurzweil K250 and Akai S1000 KB. Here some pictures with a few comments.

Arrick modular system which includes 8 VCO, 2 VC Multimode filters,

2 VC 24db ladder filters, 12 stage Fixed Filter Bank, 5 VCA, 5 Envelope Generators

and two Moog clone 960 Sequential Controllers.

The top The top cabinet contains the two Sequential Controllers, including Sequential Switches, etc.

The middle cabinet holds the 4 VC filters, Fixed Filter Bank, VCA modules and EG’s.

The bottom cabinet holds the 8 VCO’s, signal/CVmixers, noise, S&H, signal processors, etc.

The EMS Synthi A, one of the synthesizers that are still have their place in the

Patchwork studio (Patchwork studio being the music equipment of Rene and Ruud combined).

On the upper tier you can see a very rare CRB String Ensemble (now sold)

which sounded not unlike the famous Eminent Solina String Ensemble. Below is the Elka Rhapsody 610

an string ensemble, including a cheesy piano preset and clavichord preset.

It was used a lot by Tangerine Dream, Michael Hoenig and Tim Blake in the early and mid 1970’s,

especially the combined sound of both string and clavichord presets.

Some synthesizers that also staid in the Patchwork studio, like the Minimoog

Polymoog and ARP Odyssey. Althought the black/gold version has been

swapped by a 2100 White Face version with 12 dB Biquad filter.

Both Korg MS-20 and ARP Pro Soloist have staid (top two synths), the Alesis Ion and

Farfisa Syntorchestra (made famous by Klaus Schulze and Ashra) are more recent additions.

Another “newcomer” to the Patchwork studio; The Moog Little Phatty. In this case the Bob

Moog Tribute edition. It is exactly what the name stands for. It’s a two VCO lead synthesizer

with the classic Moog sound.
