Adrian Stahlecker was born in 1937 in the Netherlands. He studied portrait-painting at the Academy of Art in The Hague. Shortly after his first solo exhibition in 1961 he moved to Barcelona and he stayed in Spain till 1973. He participated in group exhibitions such as the Salon de Mayo and Salon Hospitalet. Under the auspices of the Dutch Ambassador and Her Royal Highness Princess Irene of the Netherlands he had various successful exhibitions in Madrid and Barcelona, followed by shows in Amsterdam, Antwerp, Dusseldorf, Paris, London, Berlin and Curaçao. |

International fame came when Adrian established his name as an artist by portraying members of the Dutch Royal Family and prominent stage and showbizz artists. American actor David Finch (Macbeth and Murder on the Nile), grande dame of the Dutch stage Mary Dresselhuys, actors like Trudy Labij, Marijke Merckens, Guido de Moor, Charlotte Köhler, Jan Blaaser, Ine Veen, entertainers like Willy Alberti, Tante Leen, Johnny Jordaan, writers like Yvonne Keuls and the Spanish novelist Concha Alos to mention just a few. Adrian dedicated a series of drawings and paintings to his favorite Hollywood star Marlene Dietrich. Throughout the years Adrian's powerful, expressionistic work received a lot of attention and was published extensively in the press. He won the Silver Medal of Bañolas and he is taken up in the important lexicon of Visual Artists 1750-1950.
