The Dino Cattaneo F-14D Tomcat v2.11 for FSX released

Here is a minor update to the F-14D which fixes some minor inaccuracies that were both annoying and easy to fix - also, Dino's been working with VRS to solve the Tacpack carrier navaids issue. There are still some annoying bugs here and there, but this release should be good for a more widespread distribution.

Restauravia releases the Mirage IIIB v1.2 for FSX

Restauravia has released its rendition of the famous Dasault Mirage IIIB twin seater.

The history of the Mirage III began in 1954 when the Air Force was looking for a light interceptor. The MD550 was the response of Dassault in this contest.
However, the craft was changed allot before becoming the Mirage III bisonique with an ATAR engine. The IIIC was the first truly operational version. Beginning in 1961, the Mirage III C began to equip French fighter squadrons. The export success made it a major post-war aircraft.
Its participation in the Six Day War will be essential in the victory of the State of Israel.
The Mirage III B was commissioned by the Army Air along with the first 100 versions of the III C. It was, indeed, necessary to turn in the best future pilots of Air Force and other air forces with the Mirage.
The prototype Mirage III B 01 flew for the first time on October 20 1959 in the hands of test pilot René Bigand. 76 examples of the Mirage III B series of all versions were produced, including 56 for the French Air Force.

NL2000 version 4.04 released

The NL2000 team is often experimenting with new features for the scenery. Often these experiments don't end up in the released scenery. But this new NL2000 release has evolved from such an experiment.

A few years ago when it was snowing outside, the idea was born to make a wintry snow version of the scenery as well. By using special Photoshop filters we were able to turn the aerial imagery of our photo scenery into a snowy variant. With this imagery we build a new photo scenery and in the options screen of the installer you can now switch between the normal and the snowy scenery. To get the best looking results, we advice to put the FSX season on winter, so that the autogen trees are without leaves.

FlightGear 2.4.0 released!

The FlightGear development team is proud to announce the release of version 2.4.0 of its free open source flight simulation program. FlightGear 2.4.0 reflects over one and a half years of development and incorporates several new and exciting features, as well as numerous bug fixes.

One of the hallmark features of this new FlightGear version consists of a completely overhauled weather module. While it was previously already possible to load realistic weather by downloading (or creating custom) METAR weather reports, the current FlightGear 2.4.0 version takes weather generation an order of a magnitude further by applying the laws of physics to the reported conditions and by determining how the atmosphere interacts with the terrain. This results not only in customizable weather, but also in all the exciting phenomena that occur at the boundaries between different weather systems. Among the numerous phenomena included in the weather simulation are fog layers that are limited in altitude, cold fronts, thermals, cloud formation in updraft winds along mountain ridges, and many, many more. In FlightGear 2.4.0 checking the weather is no longer a luxury option, it is essential for flight safety.

Premier Aircraft Design releases Fokker 100 Regional Airliner Package

Premier Aircraft Design (or PAD for short) has released the Fokker 100 Regional Airliner Package for FSX and FS2004 (FS9).

The Fokker 100 is a 107 seat, twin jet, regional airliner which first went into airline operation in 1988 and is still in service all over the world. The Fokker 100 was a good design, popular with passengers and airlines, but was not a great commercial success for Fokker due to high production costs and increasing competition in the regional airliner market from the likes of Bombardier and Embraer. Production ceased in 1997 after 283 had been delivered. Full package for FSX/SP2, with custom panel and VC with FMC. 3D passenger cabin, animated airstair and cargo doors, airbrakes and reverse thrust. Kneeboard check and ref lists. Four liveries included. Realistic performance and pleasant hand flying qualities.
