Chris Bachalo (1965) was born in Canuck (Canada) and raised in Southern California, where he still lives with his wife Helen.
Bachalo was once destined to become a carpenter, but his carpeting career was short-lived because he's allergic to dust. Educated at
Cal State Long Beach College, Bachalo made his pro debut on Sandman #12 (1990), while waiting for the first script for
Shade, The Changing Man (1990-1994)
Before he started working on Marvel's Generation X (1994-1997), which he co-created with writer Scott Lobdell, Bachalo was
probably best known for his work on the highly acclaimed mini-series: Death: The High Cost of Living (1993) for DC/Vertigo,
written by Neil Gaiman. This mini-series earned him the title of 'definitive Death artist'.
In 1997 he started working on Uncanny X-Men (1997-1999) with writer Steven T. Seagle and in 1999 he did the Witching Hour
mini-series with writer Jeph Loeb for DC/Vertigo. In 2000, Bachalo took on his first creator-owned series Steampunk
(2000-2002) with writer Joe Kelly for DC/Cliffhanger.
More recently, Bachalo has worked on the Ultimate War (2003) mini-series with writer Mark Millar, New X-Men (2003)
with Grant Morrison, Captain America (2004) with Robert Morales and the 10th anniversary Age of Apocalypse (2005)
spin-off series written by Akira Yoshida.
