American artist Alex Ross (1970) was born in Portland (Oregon) and currently lives in Wilmette
(Illinios). He burst onto the comics scene in 1994 with the all-painted mini-series
Marvels, which he created with writer Kurt Busiek.
Ross' first comicbook work however was the Terminator: The Burning Earth mini-series for
Now Comics in 1990.
In 1995 Ross started doing the covers for Kurt Busiek's Astro City. He still does them
to this day.
In 1996 Ross painted the three-issue Kingdom Come mini-series, which he created with
writer Mark Waid. In 1997 he did the two-issue Uncle Sam mini-series, together with
friend/writer Steve Darnall.
Ross is also the artist of four oversized one-shots to commemorate the 60th anniversaries of
some of DC's core characters: Superman: Peace on Earth (1998), Batman: War on Crime
(1999), SHAZAM!: Power of Hope (2000) & Wonder Woman: Spirit of Truth (2001).
All one-shots are written by Paul Dini.
At the moment, both Alex Ross and writer Jim Krueger are working on the final installment of
their "X" trilogy, called Paradise X. The two earlier installments are called Earth
X (1999/2000), Universe X (2000/2001).
