Holland is home of the Delta works. This is a massive dam-system which controls the water levels in the whole of South-Holland (one of the provinces). This is one of the "sluizen" which regulates the water. The Haringvliet dam (what you're looking at) has 17 such "sluizen".

This is a typical Dutch setting.

Holland is very flat and when you get out into the country this is one of the most common sites.

A land house in the background, young trees and a bicyle path close by.

That's probably a turnip or sprout field in between.

Somethings just aren't very interesting. Yet, if you place them in a certain context or a certain light, they do become fascinating.

This is a lamppost on a refugee camp.

This is probably going to be my largest gallery.

I'm fascinated by nature meeting mankind. Especially totally contrasting images of pure earth vs. pure...sorry...pretentious rambling alert....

This is a mosque in Alexandria. It's at the bottom of lower Egypt in the most northern point of the country...or some thing like that.

As soon as I figure out what the words on top of it mean I'll paste them here for all to read:

This is the temple in Luxor.

The man in the center (and we all know that the center of attention in a photo should never be in the center, but this man is sooooooo great he deserves to be the exception to the rule) is Ramses II. Or Rameses II.

He is the greatest ruler Egypt has ever known. He had more than 100 children and most of the temples you stumble across as you roam the deserts and slums of Egypt were made in his honour.

He also kicked major international butt.

This is an unaltered picture from the center of Utrecht in the Center of Holland. Really!

This is the last of the first ten pictures.

If everything goes as planned, then I'll be adding a picture or two to my collection of structures each month.
