JesusMetal: Can you give a short introduction to the band and the music you play ?.
Nain-Usar: Hi, I'm Nain-Usar, the founder and only member of the black metal project Dormant.
The music I play is black metal with a tendency to atmosphere and innovation.
JesusMetal: Dormant... How did you come up with that name
Nain-Usar: I did not choose the name Dormant for any deep reasons, I just liked (and still like) the sound of the word.
Although it practically means the same as asleep, it has a more brooding, potentially explosive thing to it.
JesusMetal: You are on your own, are there plans becoming a full band ?
Nain-Usar: I'm not planning to let Dormant become a full band.
JesusMetal: You released a disc, Consolamentum (Son of Man Records), what is your favorite song ?
Nain-Usar: My favorite song on Consolamentum is The Grievous Children.
JesusMetal: Are you working on a new release ? (if so, what can we expect)
Nain-Usar: My next release will be a full length album, called Alchemy. It will be a lot more serious work, an effort to avoid clichés and embrace innovation,
a search for the deepest possible atmosphere in black metal, without making it inaccessable. The greatest progress will be made on the lyrical level,
a huge step ahead of Consolamentum lyrics.
JesusMetal: With Son of Man Records not being active anymore, will you be looking for another label ?
Nain-Usar: Yes, I will find another label, but not before I have enough material and prospect on the production.
JesusMetal: What bands are your biggest musical influences ?
Nain-Usar: Right... here's few: Lengsel (Solace) is my greatest influence concerning the blend between black metal and innovation.
Vardoger (Whitefrozen) inspired me with their immense atmosphere.
Other non-metal influences are old The Cure, Cult of Luna, Mogwai etc
JesusMetal: Where do you get lyrical inspiriation ?
Nain-Usar: Some of my lyrics are derived from biblical fragments, others are merely emotional.
JesusMetal: What do you think of the term "unblack" ?
Nain-Usar: Ah, unblack. Hotly debated word. I personally think it's just a term to shed light on the difference between christian and non-christian black metal.
I do NOT see it as a genre. It is a faction, though, an image that some bands strongly strive for,
just as satanic bands flood their artwork with pentagrams and goats and inverted crosses.
JesusMetal: If you had to cover a song from any band, what would it be ?
Nain-Usar: I've thought about doing that, but never seriously tried it before.
First things that come to mind are old-Lengsel songs, or old The Cure songs. Actually, Liefde Was Het, the last track on Consolamentum, was a cover.
JesusMetal: Anything else ?
Nain-Usar: Thanks for the questions. Keep it real and God bless.
