Interview with Encryptor
June 29 - 2006

It's been 3 years since I last interviewed Phil Diez, mastermind behind Sorrowstorm and Encryptor, although he has only released 1 new song eversince, called He Was Beheaded, he has been releasing several re-issues for both his projects. The most recent re-issue is called Encryption (1999-2006).

JesusMetal: It's been a while since I last interviewed you, how are you doing?

Phil: Well Max, itīs funny you ask, because right now this minute Iīm feeling so-so. I have a bacterial infection of... I donīt know what. The lab tests indicate that itīs a strong bacterial infection that has been going on for a week or so. Some very strong meds for this Iīve had to take. On the other hand Iīve been receiving this advanced physical therapy program type thing. Since I lift weights a lot, I have had some problems with my body with pains and soreness. This program is supposed to help you. So far itīs been doing well. So yeah. Iīll just say Iīm fine because by the time you post this interview, Iīll be healthy.

JesusMetal: Congratulations with your release of Encryption 1999-2006 . What are your thoughts on it? What's your favorite song from it?

Phil: Thank you, thanks. I think this has been the best release that has ever been done with my material so far. The packaging and sound are better. Due to the connections with Alcance Subterraneo in Mexico, I was able to convince them to make this an excellent looking release. My favorite song is He Was Beheaded.

JesusMetal: You re-released Drowning in Flesh and Sermon Decay on one CD, called Cryptic Works in 2003, why this new reissue? What does it add?

Phil: Hmmm. Actually Bombworks Records re-released Cryptic Works. With both of these Encryptor re-releases, I havenīt had to put a single cent on the table, thank God because I didnīt have the money. So I greatly appreciate Bombworks for this. The Mexican version, Encryption, was re-issued because there was still a demand worldwide for my material. I didnīt just want to make it a re-release, I wanted to do something very special with it. I wanted to make the songs on Drowning in Flesh sound much better and this I did.

JesusMetal: You remastered some of the songs. Also, you removed intro's from several songs, why?

Phil: Yes I re-mastered and added some cool edits to many songs. I removed the intro and outro to BLoodflow Toward Salvation. It seemed like I was always pressing skip to skip the intro because I wanted to get right to the song. I excluded Cast into Darkness. I also added 3 intros to the Drowning in Flesh songs since I was having so much fun playing with this deal.

JesusMetal: You seem to only release reissues recently, although Encryption has one new song called He Was Beheaded. Can we expect new music from Encryptor or Sorrowstorm in the future?

Phil: All the re-issues have been released because my material is constantly in demand. It runs out so I need to re-issue things. The reason why I have heavily marketed Encryption is because fans of Encryptor will need this in order for them to listen to the changes I made for the better. You can expect music from both projects. When? Time will tell.

JesusMetal: There were words of a t-shirt for Encryption, will this actually happen?

Phil: There is a possibility that it may happen but not on my side. It will have to be done by Alcance Subterraneo. If they send shirts to the United States, I will alert everyone.

JesusMetal: Any final comments?

Phil: Thank you very much for the interview and for your support. To all of you, thanks as well. You can buy Encryption at www.christiandiscs.com, www.cmdistro.com, or www.radrockers.com.
