Fear Dark Festival 2007

May 11, Het Kasteel, Alphen aan de Rijn, Fear Dark assembled again some bands for a great night of music.
We already got a notifification that Immortal Souls get canceled because their singer had a throat operation and was not able to sing, Fear Dark arranged the Norwegian band Drottnar to play the dutch concerts and World to Ashes for the non-dutch ones. I personally was happy that Drottnar played, because I like them better.

The first band to play was Whispering Gallery a dutch doommetal band. I didn't know the band well, and live they didn't seem the most interesting band in my opinion, but they got the crowd pretty warmed up, and that's not an easy task, the last song they played was more uptempo and was also the best one,

After them came Drottnar,Drottnar brought an amazing show, the singer gave all he got and also used his megaphone next to the normal mic. The drummer had 2 strobes connected to his kick-drum, so it was a great live show too. Drottnar is extreme chaotic technical blackmetal, and isn't a genre that everyone likes, I loved it, but many people I know thought it was a bit too much.

The 3d band to play this evening was Thy Majestie, hailing from Italy. They are a powermetalband and used quite some soundsamples/intros to the songs that gave a great atmosphere, I was looking forward to this band, because I've been a fan of them for quite a while, and this was the first time I saw them.
They played a good mix of older and newer songs, and pretty much the best songs of every disc, nice setlist. The vocalist was quite active but he got the crowd going which is good. The sound wasn't bad, but could been better, I wasn't able to hear the rythm guitarplayer most of the time.

Last band to play was Eluveitie, it was the 4th time I saw them live, and although they played good, it was hard for me to keep my attention.
They played a song that's going to be on the new album, pretty much in the vein of the previous released stuff.
Because I had to go all the way back to Belgium I had to leave during their set, so I missed the end, but I'm pretty sure they ended Fear Dark 2007 well.
I can't wait for next year.
