This release dates from 2005, it is the first official release of finnish melodic metallers Venia, this albumwas released by Bombworks records, known for noticing new talent all over the world.
Venia is female fronted metal, but the girl isn't limited to just singing, she also makes extreme vocals, sometimes accompanied by one of the guitar players, screaming along. The guitars are heavy, very focused on rythm, but not forgetting to add melody when needed. The drums deliver a decent job, no full on blasting, but double bass on the right places and they stay pretty varied. The overall sound quality of the release is good, everything is clear. There is also the use of violin on this release, not in a happy, but more in a sorrowful way, well used. The lyrics are very humble, they deal with a lot of pain and struggle, but also tell that God is the way out. Overall the songs give a nice vibe and atmosphere, the intro song is is also with accoustic guitar and a soft female voice, this track runs into the next one, bringing you drums and electric guitar, and the band shows it's energy. Overall Venia is a quite unknown and underrated band I think, people should dare to give this a listen, allthough this genre isn't for everyone.
