This has got to be one of my favorite albums ever. And I can proof that by having it four times! I have it twice on CD, in a jewelcase (for normal listening), in a digipack (which was limited to 600), on vinyl (which was limited to 300) and the Morphine Records pre-release promo-tape from 1997, of which I've heard around 50 were made.
What makes this album such a must-have? First of all, it's a classic piece of christian-metal-history. The band wrote this album back in 1994, which is before Horde, and there are clear Black metal influences on this album. However, it didn't get released until 2000.
Second of all, the music is plain wonderful. Martyr is one of my all-time favorite vocalists, having some of the deepest grunts I've ever heard. The music further is created to have a sorrowful atmosphere, with keys, clean vocals and up-tempo and slow parts variating each other. The sorrowful atmosphere reaches its climax in the song Mercy Lord. A slow, doomy and emotional prayer towards God. The deep grunts, the organ, the female vocals make this one of the few songs that can bring tears.
Overall, like I said, one of my favorite albums and a must-have for any fan of extreme metal.
