After the terrible meeting with Material Sanctuary, I just didn't dare to try out any more Veni Domine.
Eventually I decided to try 23:59 after all. I did like The Album of Labour and because people who generally
liked the old word didn't like the new material, I regained hope.
And I was most definitaly not to be disappointed. Veni Domine have released a terrific album with 23:59 (the
albumtitle refers to the last minute of a day). The vocals are awesome, not too much of the high vocals, which tend to work
on my nerves after a while, but a good dose of low and of high vocals. The guitars are great, Torbjörn is one of the
more interesting christian guitarplayers. Not because it's all extremely technical, or because of fast guitarsolos, but
because it's all very original. And that pretty much describes Veni Domine. It's competely new and refreshing, without
being progressive in the modern sense of mixing many kinds of genres. On 23:59 they for the first time throw in a
Rock-influence, reminding me of Torbjörn side-project Thorb. This is present on several songs, though the
Rock-influence does not dominate the sound.
Overall a great album, with several great songs. Veni Domine have proven me to be a great band to keep an eye on, and
I most definitaly will.
