Illuminandi is a Gothic metalband (I call it Gothic metal because that comes pretty close to what Illuminandi is) from Poland. The special thing about this band is that their violin and cello very much, not just on the slow and emotional parts like many metalbands do.
These are 2 demo's on 1 cd, called Demo I and Demo II. Demo I is pretty good, it does have demo-soundquality though. All songs are sung in Polish. Most vocals are clean vocals, which are good. But there are also some grunting parts, which aren't bad, but they're not that deep. The song Alleluja is all female vocals, which sound good too.
On Demo II Illuminandi has improved alot, better soundquality and the songs are more melodic. The vocalist (Jan Trebacz) improved too, which means a melodic song like Kto mnie wyzwoll...? sounds great. The Light is the only English song on this demo, though it doesn't mind what language the songs are, Polish or English, the songs sound great. This song has a choir, which is a good addition. But ...wiec My... is absolutely my favorite song here, having double-base and grunts. Like I said, on Demo I the grunts weren't really deep. Well, Jan Trebacz surely has improved, not only in clean vocals, but also his grunts, they sound great. The double-base and the grunts add a Death metal feeling to this song, very good song.
When this band would get a label and the bandmembers would have more time for it, I think Illuminandi could be pretty potential.
