This album shows me what happens when I expect something and get something else. When hearing the song Tortured Visions I expected some really fast and nice Death metal. It's not completely true though. This CD is in songstructures actually quite comparable to Mysterion. Which I loved, but I was not waiting for a demoversion of it, and some songs here actually also show up on Mysterion. Combine this with the lousy packaging and disappointment is awaiting. Now, does this mean this really is that bad a release? First of all, it's actually pretty nice to see Bombworks releasing this unreleased album from the mid 90s that didn't get proper attention. So in the light of collecting releases, this album has value. When taking the music in observation, it's not bad. Royal Anguish is a talented band, making some nice Hybrid metal, sometimes leaning closely to Death metal. But when comparing it to Mysterion, The Chronicles of Autumn Sorrow just fades. If you want to hear this band, I'd recommend getting their more recent recordings, get this one when you want to start collecting Royal Anguish's releases.
