  • Multiple change lead end support (see Grandsire Doubles)
  • A WinXP-only "range check error" is resolved. TvS 12/9/2004
Please try to replay the given spliced-method example first.
The installation produces a ini-file that sets Method Writer to Plain Bob Singles the first time. At that moment "Extended Lead End syntax" in the Method-menu is switched off and virtually all composer-pages have disappeared. Just select Minor or higher and switch the mentioned item on again.

    Worcester Cathedral bell sounds
The original bells sounds of Worcester Cathedral were kindly supplied by David Bagly. He gives only permission to use them with Method Writer. For any other purpose you should contact him at:
      david@dpbagley.demon.co.uk.

This set has been expanded by Bill Hibbert
      bill@hibberts.co.uk

The original bells Worcest1..T are now renamed to Worcest5..D.
A new set of trebbles has been added as Worcest1..4.

    Bill Hibbert writes:
"Unfortunately, almost all the recordings I have are of bells chimed, not rung full circle. I think it will take a lot of experiments to alter files of chimed bells to make them sound full circle, because: * the amplitude
distribution among the partials is rather different between bells rung up
and chimed * the sound of a bell turning full circle, due both to intensity changes and maybe a little Doppler effect, is subtly different.
Therefore, I took the 12 recordings of the Worcester bells and made four new trebles for them to make your sixteen. I was worried the trebles might sound a little 'short', but in fact the only changes I made to them were to quieten the two trebles a little - before this, they tended to 'shout' in the change.
I think the end result sounds very good indeed. I have attached all 16 as
a zip file, though of course the back twelve are the original recordings that come with Method Writer, but with new files names. I think these
sound so much better that any of the adaptations I have made of Tewkesbury that I think you should use these instead."

Cambridge and Halesowen rings of eight
The both rings of eight bell sounds (*haleswn.wav and *camb_m.wav) are
taken from the program 'Called Change Ringer' by Steve Scanlon with his permission.
On his site you may also find St Paul's Bedford. 28Cwt Twelve.

    Tewkesbury Abbey bells
Expanded set of 16 bells kindly supplied by Bill Hibbert. Because these are recordings of chimed bells, the sounds are very toneful. This may be corrected by the user with the 'Decay' item on the 'Sounds' tab of Method Writer.

    Bill wrote:
"Actually, they are Tewkesbury Abbey retuned to remove the octave stretch, with four new trebles made to sound like the existing bells. Gloucestershire's first sixteen! I should in turn pass my thanks on to Malcolm Taylor for letting me record the abbey bells a few weeks ago."
