The story behind the song "The one World"
Kindly provided by Linda Wolverton. Thank you!!
"The One World" was the musical theme for the 'Global Forum on Human Survival' that was held at Oxford, England, in April 1988, and for the PBS Special that featured the conference.
This was also used for the documentary film which was aired around the world. The music has since been turned into a song with John Denver singing.
The theme of the conference as well as the song is known as "The One World," written in collaboration with Sammy Cahn as lyricist and Byron Janis, pianist, who wrote the music.
"The One World" was also sung by John Denver in June 1992 during the Rio de Janeiro U.N.'Konferentz' at "The Earth Summit."
John was there together with Jacques Cousteau, David Brouwer, Melissa Poe, Lester Brown....
John does a wonderful job singing this one!
And here is the song!!
OneWorld:
Take a moment and start to think.
A moment is all it will take.
Take a moment we're on the brink
What a difference we all can make.
It's up to us to all of us.
We simply have to try.
It's up to us to all of us.
Time is passing by.
This is the OneWorld for al of us.
The OneWorld we ever may know.
This is the OneWorld for all of us.
The Blue skies, the green Earth below
This is the OneWorld we're living in.
The OneWorld we ever may share.
This is the OneWorld we're living in
The rivers, the oceans, the air.
This is the OneWorld for all of us.
The OneWorls that's yours and is mine.
This is the OneWorld for al of us.
A world only God could design.
This is the one star of all the stars.
A star that we wish on each night.
This is the one star of all the stars.
A star with it's own special light.
This is the OneWorld for all of us.
A worls that we hold to the brave
This is the OneWorld for all of us.
The OneWorld we have to save. |
