Thanks for visiting. This site is dedicated to the work I do with regard to the design and modelling of flexible wing structures such as kites and parachutes. These structures are so flexible, their deflections have a significant influence on their behavior in flight. Where conventional airplanes can be simulated using rigid body models, for kites and chutes these types of models have only limited applicability. For instance, a surf kite is able to corner only because it can deform. It is this direct coupling between structural flexibility and flight performance which is fascinating to explore.
