Cees and Han
Schrijver form a father/son partnership for about 25 years. After
starting with an aviary filled with several specimens of birds we
decided to specialize in budgerigars. The first years of the hobby
we were breeding with average quality of birds. After three years we
became members of a budgerigar society. In 4 years we got the status
of champion breeders. We saw that to compete in the champion section
better birds were needed. We decided to get birds from the better
breeders in Holland and Belgium. We choose for a specific line and
type of birds. After years our line became infertile. We decided to
start over again and we went to England to purchase birds. This was
not so easy. After visiting many breeders in a period over several
years we knew with which lines we would like to go on. The English
birds are the basis for the birds we now have. From 1997 on we
introduced birds from Germany. The last years this are some special
birds from Jo Mannes.
Han is a
certified judge since 1992. Since then he judged a lot of shows all
over Europe. The judging list can be found on a special page on this
site.
We have 2
aviaries and can use 30 breeding cages(one unit of 16 cages, one
unit of 6 cages and 4 units of 2 cages). Normally we are breeding
about 100 young budgerigars in a year but it depends on the number
of pairs we put up. Our aim is still to fill all 30 breeding cages
with only top quality pairs.
Colours
We breed: mainly normals, some cinnamons, pieds, whites and yellows.
Breeding cages

Nestboxes with two
compartments are used.

One of the most
important qualities of a good budgie must be the mask.
This is an example of how we like to see it:
