From january 12 through may 10, 2008 i’ll be taking part in the Tour d’Afrique, the worlds longest bicycle-race and –expedition: from north to south in Africa in 120 days.
Riding this tour is the realisation of a dream that i have been dreaming for some years now. Four months on the road, discovering your limits, meeting a lot of new people, talking to them and getting to know Africa at the speed off a bike: not to fast, not to slow. It is a challenge i want to take up.
I’m going to use this expedition to raise money for the Pola van der Donck Foundation. This dutch foundation has built a village, outside of Lusaka, Zambia, called the Palabana Childrens Village. Here, children who have lost their parents to AIDS, are being offered a place to live and an opportunity to get a good start in life. Details of how to transfer money to this worthy cause can be found at the bottom of this page. Please donate generously to this Foundation!!
