the matchless G85CS
The Matchless G85CS was a handmade scamble only machine and has less components than a standard matchless like the G3L or G80
the frame who was a sort of copy of the Rickman frame was made from bronze brazed Reynolds 531 [the rickman metisse was very popular]
also the Norton P11 has such a frame.....
The G85 was fitted with Glass fiber fueltank,airbox and side covers.......mostly these fuel tanks were replaced by alloy LYTA tanks The oiltank has a very complicated shape and was welded from sheet. the rearhub comes from a 7R or G50 and is made from magnesium. The front hub has the finns machined away. a big Amal GP carburettor made the bike complete as I was very amazed how BIG such a carburettor is........I heard bad story,s about these carbs.....
The ignition is from a Lucas Competition magneto and the spark plug is placed central into the head. My opinion is that these wonderful scambles only bikes deserve its own place as they were pulled down by bad story,s when the plumstead factory came with this bike
