the Rickman G85CS

The Rickman was built by Don and Derek Rickman

in the 60 ties

They gave it the name "Metisse" the name of their

own MX scrambler. The brothers started the "ideal

scrambler" The Tribsa - with a powerful triumph engine

It has the BSA gearbox and Norton forks.

in 1961, Rickman made a complete machine, The MK lll

Metisse has a leight-weight nickel plated frame, Reynolds

531 tube and the nice Avon bodywork.

The frame was leight and very strong.

They tried to interest the motorcyclemanufacturers as BSA,

Matchless and Triumph but they did not want to know

about this Superb machine

After Triumph stopped supplying, the Matchless engine was

used. in 1963 the production was raised to 3 a week.

The Rickman G85CS engined is a very leight, beautiful

finished,powerful MX bike.

The primery looks very nice to me and I use an example

on my own G85CS despite its originality [I have an orignal]

It is thicker, stronger than the original sheet promery wich

was very weak.....this primery is a near copy of the tin 50ties

The later 1966 G85 Matchless factory frame was based or

copied from the strong Rickman frame

That AMC used the Rickman Metisse frame or made a copy

of it, is a confession to the brothers that they made a wonder-

ful frame.

The Plumstead Factory changed their name into Norton-

Matchless , There were 2 twins and the MX G85CS for the

only Competition Performance MX bike.

The production ended in 1969 when the factory closed their

gates FORGOOD.
