The
Bunker Archive IJmuiden try to inform you about the defence works in and around
the former fortress IJmuiden. The fortress IJmuiden, a in WWII through the
German highest army command awarded state, content the village IJmuiden,
Driehuis, Velsen Zuid and at the North site of the canal Wijk aan Zee.
In
and around the fortress IJmuiden are not only build many German defence works,
but before WWII the Dutch army has build different defence lines, the most with
concrete bunkers.
IJmuiden
with the Industry, sluice and harbours was a very important position in the
Dutch and German defence.
This
was the reason that both armies choose to reinforce IJmuiden to a solid fortress.
