Other Stuff
Astrosystems
I usually buy telescope parts such as spiders, secondary holders, heating devises for the secondary mirror and lightshrouds from Astrosystems.
I find them a very reliable source for all this. Not only reliable stuff, they provide also very good and pleasant service.
Protostar
I buy occasionally secondary mirrors from Protostar and the flocking material. Also pleasant service and high quality stuff.
Collimation tools
I’ve used Howie Glatter’s Barlowed laser collimator for years now. Very, very good, no other words than that!
In particular his recent addition to the repertoire, the tuBLUG proved to be very useful for the binoscope.
For collimating the primary mirror I also use the oversized Cheshire from Jim Fly.
Beside this Cheshire I also use Jim Fly's seeing tube and I bought the the plans for the Catchperch chair from him.
I like all of it a lot!
Focusers
I use Moonlite focusers, along with their filter slides.
Beside that I use the Feathertouch focuser from Starlight Instruments.
No doubt the Rolls-Royce under focusers, alas not only physically heavy, but also in the wallet department.
Fortunately you can detach the Feathertouch focuser very easily from its leveling base, so I use two focusers on more telescopes.
OPT
I have bought most of the Pentax XW and Televue eyepieces and accessoires from OPT in California. Good service and fast delivery.
Ganymedes
When it comes to telescope stuff with moving parts such as a Vixen mount (outside the scope of this website)
or solar telescope I don’t buy through internet.
Jeroen from Ganymedes is always open for some deal and is very relaxed to deal with anyway.
Excellent and very very pleasant service.
Harbers
Where would I have been without Bram and Arthur from the local hardware shop Harbers.
I’m most of the time to be found in my favorite corner of stainless steel screws, nuts and bolts. They’ve also sold me some of the essential equipment and above all, they've always 'sold’ me their advice for free! They don’t get a nutcase who builds telescopes in the shop every day, that’s for sure.
