you're downloading a great new frontcover-image
at a mere 47 k,
well worth the wait too . . .
view an my own frontdoor
And a Happy 2006 to you all . . .

I've been looking all over the place to get you monthly fresh images here, but why should one always have to look so far? Also, by now you must be very curious as to how I actually live, and this image does answer just that, as it is made right at my own doorstep by my downstairs neighbour Eric.

More interesting bits can be told her. The building in the center is a boathouse of one of the 3 rowing associations our town has. Besides that it also is a reconstruction of the old citywall fortifications. Besides that, it was reconstructed by7 an architect who got his education at Delft University, just like me. Besides that, this architect is still very well known all across the country, because he ended up in jail! How did he do that? I hear you ask. He was trailed for forgering Vermeer paintings. Why did he do that? I hear you ask. Well, because he could! He'd done it so good that the work was bought by one of our major musea, and hun there for years, untill he told them it was fake, and they wanted to throw them in jail for insulting their good judgement. That is until they had another good look and they found out the canvas and paint was from the 20th century. To south their hurt self esteem they just had tosettle with the man in court .

even more to tell you: The image you see here was done last year, as this year the wentire thing is hidden in scaffolding, becouse our friends the rowers want a few more of their "eights" to be stored in there. So they are expanding the building on the space where you see the bushes to the left. You see the design is rather clever; the caves that store the boats run on under the road that is lifted a meter or two, so they can store much longer boats than you would imagine from the modest building on top.

Oh yeah, if, after all this reading you still want to check out earlier splash pages, you can ! and indeed, the story does not end here: what you see there is the court of the actual prestigeous museum that bought the Vermeegeren Vermeer forgerie!
and even then, things were not settled; amazingly a new dispute arose, with art critics argueing it was a real Vermeer only said to be a forgery to make tthhe forgerer look more of a virtuoso. see here.

I'm not trying to be balanced
I'm not very good at that . .
